Description of CCA

Brownies is part of the Guiding Movement (Girl Guides Singapore). Brownies aims to provide our students with the opportunity for self-training in the development of character, in the realization of responsible global citizenship and promotion of service to the community. A wide range of indoor and outdoor activities will help to develop the girls physically, mentally and socially.

Programme Highlights
World Thinking Day Celebrations
Every year, Girl Guides and Brownies from all over the world commemorate the founding of the World Guiding Movement through performances and songs during the celebration.
IN OLN
Brownies don their Full Brownie Uniform and go through the World Thinking Ceremony during morning assembly. The mission of the guiding movement and future endeavors of Girl Guides Singapore (GGS) and key highlight activities are announced to the school in the speech written by the president of GGS. It is always a proud moment for the Brownies as they stand in front of the school united as a Brownie Family and renew their Brownie Promise.
Island-wide GGS Celebrations
Each year, GGS holds big scale celebration featuring the different themes of the year. Activities organized involve Brownies, Girl Guides and Young Adult leaders all over Singapore as they come together to not only celebrate the occasion but also to carry out activities which makes an impact to the society/environment. This is a good chance for Brownies to become aware of the big Guiding fraternity as they interact with students from other schools, and with other organizations such as Boy Scouts, People Association etc. Activities include carnivals and beach/park cleaning.
South Division Activities
South Division Day
Each year, Brownies and Guides from all the primary and secondary schools in the South Division compete in a series of games. The competition caters to students of with different strengths as there are games which challenges the aesthetics (Craft and Design, and Lyric-adapting), sports (Obstacles), memory (Brownie Knowledge and puzzle solving –CSI) etc. In competing in the various competitions, Brownies interact with Brownies and Guides from the different schools in the South Division. Competitions won contribute points to the PNA Award.
South Division Learning Day
On this day, many booths and workshops will set up/conducted with to educate and share on various skills, knowledge and crafts.
Inter-unit Games Day
3 Brownie units gather together to compete in a series of games which caters to students of with different strengths.
Special interest badges
These badges awarded to Brownies who participate in workshops / courses conducted by external organisations such as Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Gardens by the Bay, National Environment Agency (NEA), PUB, Traffic Police, Rolls – Royce Science Investigator Workshop, People Association etc. GGS partners with these organization to create these workshops to cater to the specific learning needs of the Brownies to nurture young ladies who are concerned about world / nation issues and take steps to make a change.
National Brownie Revel
This is a national event open to Brownie units island-wide. The event is made up of competitions which tests Brownies grit, endurance and teamwork. Brownies Cookies Project
The Brownies Cookies Project is one of the biggest fund raising projects for Girl Guides Singapore. The Brownies will design attractive posters and order forms to promote the sales during recess time to all OLN students and teachers. The Brownies receives a Cookie Sale patch for their efforts in helping with the fund raising.
National Day Celebration March– in Ceremony
Brownies will kickstart the school’s national day celebration with a smart march-in ceremony. On this day, the Brownies don their uniforms and lead the school in commemorating the nation’s birthday.
Annual OLN Brownies Camp
Through the camp, our Brownies will learn many new skills like basic first aid, cooking outdoors, observing plants and animals in nature, creating toys from recycled materials etc. The training camp also helps to strengthen bonds between Brownies, and at the same time develop leadership skills in the Brownies.
