31st YMCA Plain English Speaking Award (PESA) 2017

The YMCA Plain English Speaking Awards (PESA) was started in 1986 by Metropolitan YMCA of Singapore. Subsequently, the decision by the Ministry of Education to initiate a national public speaking competition led to today's annual national PESA competitions with the primary aim of promoting the effective and articulate use of plain yet attractive spoken English among students in Singapore. The English Department is proud to share that Nitra Natasha Vincent from 5 Faith received the Achievement Award in the Upper Primary Category while Kaelyn Yeo Jing En from 3 Faith earned a spot in the Finals of Lower Primary Category. Well done and congratulations, Nitra and Kaelyn!

Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Art Exhibition 2017

The Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Art Exhibition 2017 celebrates the artist in every child through the theme, Artist and Space. It showcases the children’s creative ideas, personal aspirations and hard work put into artistic expressions.   We are proud to announce that the Primary 4 students have attained the Certificate of Recognition for their artwork titled “Tales of an IJ Girl“. They created a monochromatic artwork featuring snippets of everyday life of an IJ GIRL. They were also invited to attend the SYF Art Exhibition Opening Ceremony to share their art making journey with visitors on that day. Currently, their artwork is one of the 15 selected artworks showcasing at the MOE HQ at Buona Vista.   All these students have indeed discovered their passion for the Art and through the art making process, embraced the important values of teamwork and resilience. We hope they can continue to aspire others through their work.
